Q&A With WriteByNight Designer Kyahdric Moses
Kyahdric Moses is a freelance brand designer, illustrator, and educator currently working as the principal designer for his start-up business Pink Paradox Design Co. He holds his Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts with a concentration in Graphic Design from Winthrop University and his Master’s of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Kyahdric has worked with several small businesses and brands on various marketing and design solutions and spends a great deal of time mentoring design students on reaching their potential.
Where are you from?
I am from the small town of Florence, South Carolina. Best known for its boiled peanuts, of which I am not a huge fan, and being the premier Gateway to Myrtle Beach.
Where did you study?
I studied graphic design and illustration at Winthrop University.
What is the last book you read?
The last book I read was The Interior Design Handbook by Frida Ramstedt, who is a Swedish interior designer. I have a deep love and curiosity for all things design, and that curiosity and love have brought me into the realm of interiors. I would have to say this is one of the most helpful guidebooks I have ever read, in that it is extremely digestible for someone like myself who has no prior training in interior design. Although, admittedly, it does help to have some prior design knowledge.
What is the hardest part about writing?
My answer kind of applies to design and writing. I think the hardest part is trying to fight the urge to be perfect before you’ve given yourself the chance to start. I find that that’s usually the killer of dreams when it comes to this type of work.
What is your favorite word?
I actually have two favorite words, “pumpernickel” and “tabernacle,” for no particular reason other than they are really fun to say.
