Over on our Events page we’ve announced a couple of new writing workshops and seminars, including Setting the Stage and The Easy Way to Write a Nonfiction Book Based on Your Knowledge and Expertise.

Setting the Stage writing workshopsSetting the Stage is a two-part seminar and workshop which will teach you how setting can advance plot, enhance characters, and enrich the fictional landscape. The first half, a seminar on April 18, will have you looking at short stories that reveal character, create metaphor, and advance and support a narrative, works of fiction that focus heavily on “place.” In the second meeting, an April 25 workshop, you will give and receive feedback on your and your peers’ new writing, incorporating the lessons you learned the week before.

This one is only $55 for nonmembers, and $45 for members, and will be run by WBN writing coach Cecily Sailer.

On Saturday, May 4, we’ll show you The Easy Way to Write a Nonfiction Book Based on Your Knowledge and Expertise. In this full-day seminar, writer, speaker and consultant Gudjon Bergmann, author of 18 books, will show you how to use your specialized knowledge to write a book that sells. Based on Gudjon’s The Author’s Blueprint, this seminar will help you prepare mentally to increase motivation, narrow your focus, manage your time, and break through writer’s block.
