    Between the Pages Writers Con

    A writing conference in Springfield offering guest speakers, writing workshops, networking, and more. Organized by three local organizations, including the Springfield Writers’ Guild (see below).

     

    Gateway to Publishing Conference

    An annual conference from the St. Louis Writers Guild offering writing workshops, a book fair, readings and guest speakers.

     

    Helicon Nine

    A Kansas City publisher of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry written by new and established authors.

     

    Kansas City Voices

    Discovering, encouraging, and promoting creativity and communication through literature, art and other forms of cultural expression. Publishes an annual eclectic mix of fiction, essays, interviews, articles, poetry and art.

     

    The Missouri Review

    One of the most highly-regarded literary magazines in the United States. Based at the University of Missouri, it publishes four issues each year.

     

    Missouri Writers’ Guild

    A statewide organization for professional writers in all genres, providing writing workshops, networking opportunities, market information, writing contests, and many other activities to assist writers in developing their careers.

     

    New Letters

    A magazine of writing and art.

     

    Ozarks Writers League

    OWL is a group of like-minded individuals dedicated to promoting writing, literacy, photography and art. Writing contests and more.

     

    Southeast Missouri Writers’ Guild

    Monthly meetings in Cape Girardeau offering resources and opportunities for writers of all kinds. Events include readings, guest speakers, workshops and more.

     

    Springfield Writers’ Guild

    Encourages writers in the marketing of their literary material for payment while emphasizing mentoring, genre interest, motivation, publishing, and writing skills.

     

    Story Center

    The Story Center at the Mid-Continent Public Library offers materials, resources, programming, and options for showcasing the print, oral, and digital stories created within.

     

    Washington University Summer Writers Institute

    An intensive, two-week program featuring writing workshops in fiction, creative nonfiction, flash fiction and poetry, as well as readings, craft talks, and individual conferences with instructors.

     

    The Writers Place

    Its mission is to promote writers and their work, to nurture an interest in writing and literature in a large, diverse audience, and to contribute to the quality of cultural life in Kansas City and throughout the Midwest.
