    Bear River Writers’ Conference

    Bear River Writers’ Conference is a place where writers can enjoy the beauty of Northern Michigan and meet writers from all over the country. It aims to bring people with general literary interests together with those who are interested in writing about place and the natural environment.


    Detroit Working Writers

    Men and women from around the country working, writing and publishing in numerous genres with a common goal: to foster excellence in writing and serve as a creative and professional resource for one another and the community.


    The Detroit Writers’ Guild

    A nonprofit organization located in Detroit. It was founded in the summer of 1983 out of a concern for the lack of books for black children written by black authors in the Detroit Public School System.


    JOT Writers’ Conference

    Held biannually in and around Grand Rapids, JOT offers TED-style talks from published authors, as well as dedicated time to either mingle with other writers or sneak off and write.


    Michiana Writers’ Workshop

    A critique group meeting twice a month in South Bend to workshop new writing and discuss publishing news and trends. Welcomes writers of all stripes living in north-central Indiana and southwest Michigan.


    Michigan Quarterly Review

    Michigan Quarterly Review, founded in 1962, is the University of Michigan’s flagship journal, publishing each season a collection of essays, interviews, memoirs, fiction, poetry and book reviews.


    Michigan Writers

    Michigan Writers is a vibrant community of people who appreciate the written word. Members help to actively foster a vital literary community by encouraging, supporting and connecting writers of all ages.


    Michigan Writers Blog

    A blog that offers resources and articles about writing and copywriting.


    Poetry Society of Michigan

    A member of the National Federation of State Poetry Societies, PSM encourages and celebrates poetry groups across Michigan. Offers workshops, contests, and publication opportunities in Peninsula Poets literary journal.


    Rochester Writers

    Founded in 2008 in response to a need for professional development in the Southeast Michigan area for new and published writers.


    The Scarab Club

    One of Michigan’s finest venues for art, music and literature.


    Springfed Arts Metro Detroit Writers

    A monthly newsletter and calendar of literary arts events in Metro Detroit.


    Voices of the Middle West

    Created by Midwestern Gothic in partnership with the University of Michigan’s Residential College, a festival celebrating writers from all walks of life as well as independent presses and journals that consider the Midwestern United States their home.


    Walloon Writers Review
