    Carlinville Writers Guild

    A not-for-profit organization designed to bring together writers of all genres twice each month to talk about their craft, exchange ideas, share good news, critique each other’s work, listen to seasoned writers share their experiences, stretch their writing muscles with creative prompts, go to writers conferences together, and ultimately collaborate in publishing their work in anthologies.

     

    Chicago Women in Publishing

    A nonprofit volunteer organization formed in 1972 for professionals in the publishing industry and allied fields. Its purpose is to explore and improve the status of publishing professionals, to assist members in greater professional achievement, and to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas.

     

    Chicago Writers Association

    Volunteer, not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting the 4 C’s of writing: creativity, commerce, craft and community.

     

    Chicago Writers Conference

    Brings writers together for an informative and fun weekend conference to network with other writers, rub elbows with publishers, and connect with agents.

     

    Downers Grove Writers Workshop

    A critique group founded in 1980, Downers Grove Writers Workshop meets twice a month at the Downers Grove Library. Open to all levels of writers working in all genres.

     

    Evanston Writers Workshop

    Evanston Writers’ Workshop exists to help writers achieve their goals through education, support and friendship.

     

    Heartland Writers Guild

    A not-for-profit multi-genre organization devoted to helping its members market their writing.

    A professional writer’s organization, which provides resources and education to support individuals in their craft.

     

    The Matador Review

    This online literature and art quarterly based in Chicago, Illinois, seeks “to promote ‘alternative work’ from both art and literature, and to encourage the new-wave of respect for online publications.”

     

    Naperville Writers Group

    Chasing the muse since 1987, the Naperville Writers Group offers writers the opportunity to develop craft and receive thoughtful, positive, and useful critiques. Members come from throughout the Chicago area and range from published, award-winning writers to those who write only for pleasure.

     

    Quincy Writers Guild

    This member organization of the Quincy Society of Fine Arts meets monthly to learn and share experiences with the written word.

     

    Spring Fling Writers’ Conference

    Every other year the Chicago-North RWA chapter organizes this weekend of workshops, panels, pitch sessions and more.

     

    StoryStudio Chicago

    A growing community of writers building Chicagoland’s premier center for writing and writers. Their mission is simple: teach the art and craft of writing in a positive, open and encouraging community where students can develop their unique voices.
