I. Etiquette
A. Fair Exchange Clause: Workshop participants agree to provide thoughtful written and verbal feedback to all submitted work with the understanding that their fellow workshop participants will do the same for them.
B. Constructive Criticism: Workshop participants must treat fellow participants with respect at all times. Honesty is valued here, as is sensitivity. Victimization and/or discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated and may result in expulsion from WriteByNight’s services.
C. Plagiarism/Intellectual Property
1. The writing submitted to the group must be 100% your creation.
2. The work submitted by workshop participants is the sole property of the submitter. No work may be borrowed, copied or reproduced without the writer’s consent.
D. Venue: WriteByNight headquarters (TX) and The Arts Council, Cultural Council, libraries, etc. (FL) provide us with spaces in which to conduct workshops and offer services. All participants are expected to treat these venues with the utmost respect. The party responsible for damage done to private property will carry the financial burden. WriteByNight will not be held responsible for personal injury incurred on any of these premises.
II. Payment
A. Acceptable methods of registration include mail, email, by phone or in person.
B. Acceptable methods of payment include credit card, cash or check (made payable to WriteByNight).
C. Agree to automatic payments by providing your signature on any WriteByNight invoice, at any time. Once signed, that invoice and future invoices serve as notification of WriteByNight’s intent to charge the credit card on file. Submit billing changes at least 5 days prior to the 1st or 15th of the month.
1. Texas & Virtual
a. Workshops, private instruction and manuscript consultation are billed in 4-week cycles. Billing occurs on the 1st or 15th of the month, according to regular service rates, discounts and/or individual agreements.
b. Workshop billing occurs pre-service. Private instruction billing occurs post-service. Manuscript consultation billing occurs both pre- and post-service, with 50% of quote due upon signing.
c. Workshop fee (4-week minimum) must be paid in full prior to the first meeting of each billing cycle. Any participant who has not pre-paid is asked to pay upon arrival or forfeit seat.
2. Florida
a. Workshop registration fee must be received prior to the first meeting. Any participant who has not pre-paid is asked to pay upon arrival at Workshop #1 or forfeit seat.
b. The full balance for the entire session is due at the time of payment.
III. Discounts
A. Only one discount may be applied to any one service at any given time, prior to billing.
B. When more than one discount applies, participant receives the offer carrying the greater reward.
C. Workshop discounts are applied to the total price of 4 meetings. Private instruction discounts are applied to the total price of one 4-week billing cycle. Manuscript consultation discounts are applied to the total price of 1 meeting.
D. The “Tell Your Friends” discount applies to the workshop organizer only. The workshop must consist of 4 or more participants, including organizer and not including WriteByNight instructor.
IV. WBN Membership
A. Membership dues must be paid in full in order to receive benefits.
B. WriteByNight does not provide computers or writing supplies of any kind. Members who “Write Here” are responsible for bringing their own materials.
C. 10% discount may be applied only once to any one service of your choice, prior to billing. For a workshop, discount is applied to the total price of 4 meetings. For private instruction, discount is applied to the total price of one 4-week billing cycle. For manuscript consultation, discount is applied to the total price of 1 meeting.
D. Work featured in WriteByNight’s e-newsletter may be edited for space and content as necessary. WriteByNight reserves the right to reject work that is deemed inappropriate or offensive. There is no guarantee that work submitted will be featured.
E. Members may be billed for unreturned books and/or materials borrowed from WriteByNight’s library, according to the book or material’s estimated value. Failure to pay may result in further penalty, such as revocation of library access, discontinuation of other member benefits and/or exclusion from WriteByNight’s services and offerings.
F. Inappropriate and/or offensive content posted on WriteByNight’s blog will be removed immediately. Posting such content may result in revocation of blog access, discontinuation of other member benefits and/or exclusion from WriteByNight’s services and offerings.
V. Other
A. Attendance
1. Missed workshop meetings are the responsibility of the workshop participant. Monetary compensation will not be provided.
2. Scheduling conflicts for private instruction or manuscript consultation will be accommodated, provided participant gives WriteByNight 48-hour notice. WriteByNight reserves the right to charge participants for missed meetings at the regular service rate.
B. WriteByNight does not offer refunds. Credit is determined on a case-by-case basis and is at the discretion of WriteByNight.
C. The workshop structure is subject to change at any time over the course of the program.
