Children & Teen
Youth workshops will be available during the fall 2010 session. Check back for updates.
Does your child have a way with words? Do you live with a young, budding author? Are you looking for a creative way for your child to spend his or her time? Our Creative Writing Workshops for children and teens are just the thing.
Let us encourage your young writer to analyze mentor texts and glean necessary writing skills from them. Let us, through our support and enthusiasm, build up your developing author’s creativity. Writing is its own destination and the possibilities are endless.
We employ innovative activities and teaching styles to familiarize your child with elements of narrative and expository writing: small moments, elaboration, show-don’t-tell, figurative language and sizzling vocabulary, among others. One-on-one and group conferencing aim to inspire and augment your child’s creative nature. Older students will learn the importance of developing the heart of their stories and using turning points to make them more engaging.
While we’re at it, we’ll prepare for written compositions at school and that notorious FCAT, state rubrics in hand.
Join WriteByNight for a fun, creative experience your child or teen won’t soon forget.
*Workshops available for children ages 7-9 and 10-12, and teens ages 13-15 and 16-18.
