Badgerdog Literary Publishing brings writers into schools and community centers to provide creative writing programming for youth and seniors. Badgerdog also publishes the quarterly literary journal American Short Fiction.

Deadliners is an occasional journalism discussion series presented by WriteByNight and Professional Writers of Austin, and chaired by journalist Alex Hannaford.

Professional Writers of Austin

Professional Writers of Austin (PWA) is a free, members-only networking group for professional and aspiring writers. Its mission is to develop a supportive and informative community for Austin’s writers, editors, and interactive content creators. PWA is the official writers association of WriteByNight.

Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators

The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) is a professional organization dedicated to serving the people who write, illustrate, or share a vital interest in children’s literature. SCBWI is an international organization with a vibrant Austin/Central Texas chapter.

The Texas Observer is a nonprofit news organization that specializes in investigative, political and social-justice reporting from the strangest state in the Union. Its award-winning magazine is published monthly.

Writers’ League of Texas

The Writers’ League of Texas is a nonprofit professional organization whose primary purpose is to provide a forum for information, support, and sharing among writers, to help members improve and market their writing skills, and to promote the interests of writers and the writing community.
