David has been hard at work these past few months—these past few years, if you want to get technical—evaluating contemporary fiction for the reading pleasure of literature lovers everywhere. So, it comes as no surprise that a prominent publication has eagerly accepted his most recent article.

Keep your eyes peeled for David’s review of Robert Boswell’s The Heyday of the Insensitive Bastards in the upcoming issue of Pleiades: A Journal of New Writing, due out in January.

Take it from this lit. lover, you don’t want to miss it.

Meet the Honorable Mention

Congratulations to Justine Tal Goldberg for winning Honorable Mention in the 2009 Meet the Authors contest, as judged by literary luminaries E.L. Doctorow (Ragtime, The March, and the freshly-released Homer and Langley) and Peter Matthiessen (one of my all-time favorite writers). Justine submitted the first chapter of her novel-in-progress, Opening Umbrellas Indoors. And, to be honest, she probably should’ve been the one to meet the authors.

I’d want to meet her, were I to read it (had I not already met her, and not already read it).

This blog will serve as our connection between workshop meetings. We’ll post updates, reminders, flashes of inspiration, etc., and host friendly discussions on all things writerly. Share your thoughts. Voice your comments. Pose your questions. It’s your forum, use your imagination.

The “Your Work” section of this blog will be a literary journal of sorts. Here, we will publish creative writing submitted by our workshop participants.
